Blue-green deploys for forty client sites
Running blue-green deploys across forty separate WordPress installs on shared infrastructure, without forty separate runbooks.
Forty client sites on one platform sounds like forty problems, and it is — right up until the deploy pipeline is the same shape for all of them. The trick was never the blue-green mechanics themselves; it was refusing to let any one client’s site accrete a special case in the pipeline that the other thirty-nine didn’t share.
That discipline is what makes zero-downtime deploys actually boring at this scale, instead of a source of 2 a.m. pages. The one exception that took months to close properly is worth its own post.
